CASS TOWNSHIP − The Ohio Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate a two-vehicle fatal crash that happened shortly after 5 p.m. Monday at the intersection of North Dresden and Gene Cox roads.

According to a press release from the patrol post, a 2015 Ford Fusion driven by a 17-year-old from Dresden was northbound on North Dresden Road when a 1999 Yamaha Big Bear ATV was eastbound on Bottom Road. The ATV didn’t yield at the stop sign, the release stated.

The ATV was driven by Danny Paynter, 75, of Trinway. The name of the juvenile hasn’t been released. The patrol post said the ATV was struck by the Fusion. Paynter was transported to Genesis Hospital and then later flown to a Columbus medical facility for further treatment.

The patrol post said Paynter died of injuries from the crash on Tuesday. The teen wasn’t injured.

Assisting on scene were Dresden and Frazeysburg fire departments and emergency medical services and the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office.
